The solemn installation ceremony of the national offices of the Grand Liberal Lodge of Italy elected for the three-year period 2023-2026 took place on Saturday 23 September, the day of the autumn equinox, in the splendid setting of the Grand Hotel Baia Verde in Aci Castello.
In the presence of over 130 Brothers and Sisters from all over Italy and some foreign countries, the outgoing Grand Master Marco Galeazzi “passed the gavel” to the new Grand Master Sister Luisa Ceravolo, who in turn installed the elected and the appointed Grand Officers to complete all national positions.
Although there are many “mixed” Masonic Orders in Italy that accept men and women without distinction, there are few whose highest office is held by a woman. The Worshipful Masters of the Liberal Grand Lodge, by choosing Sister Luisa Ceravolo with their vote, demonstrated their absolute sharing of the principles of gender equality which is a foundation of the Order.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of friendly Italian and foreign Masonic Orders, namely the Traditional Grand Lodge of Italy, the Operative Hermetic Rite, the Sovereign Masonic Order of Italy, the Grand Orient of Switzerland, the United Lodges of the Netherlands, the United Grand Lodge of Poland and the Baltic States and its Supreme Council, the Universal Grand Lodge of Bulgaria, and the Grand Feminine Lodge of Romania. Messages of greetings were received from the Grand Feminine Masonic Lodge of Italy, from the Grand Orient of Luxembourg, from the Phoenician Universal Grand Lodge of Lebanon, from the Omega Grand Lodge of the State of New York, from the International Masonic Order “Delphi” of Greece, from the Grand Symbolic Lodge of Croatia.
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of gifts in memory of the event. Then a festive dinner at the same hotel followed, largely participated by members of the lodges and their relatives.
