The celebrations for the centenary of the foundation of the Feminine Grand Lodge of Romania were held in Bucharest from 7 to 9 May 2022.
The current Feminine Grand Lodge of Romania is the heir of the Independent Feminine Grand Lodge of Adoption established in March 1922 by decree of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Romania, Colonel Ioan T. Ulic It was a courageous initiative, which opened to women the doors of Freemasonry, and access to the Degrees of Perfection, in a Europe where women in Freemasonry were still relegated to a completely secondary role (with the exception of the French Mixed International Order “Le Droit Humain”) .
The Feminine Grand Lodge of Adoption remained active until 1944 when, with the establishment of the communist regime, all Romanian Masonic Lodges ceased their activity. It was only with the revolution of 1989, and the fall of the communist regime, that the women’s lodges of Romania resumed their activity, by the will of the former Sisters still alive, and thanks to the help of the Sisters of the Feminine Grand Lodge of France, up to assume, in the year 2000, the current name: Feminine Grand Lodge of Romania (Marea Loja Feminina a Romaniei)
Today the Feminine Grand Lodge of Romania is a recognized association of constitutional law and is a member of international Masonic organizations.
The Centenary celebrations, held in the prestigious Bragadiru Palace in Bucharest, were attended by our Grand Master Bro. Marco Galeazzi, representing the Grand Liberal Lodge of Italy, who also received the honor of being appointed Honorary Grand Master of the Feminine Grand Lodge of Romania.
