Turin, December 14, 2024 – The Gran Loggia Liberale d’Italia (GLLI), led by Grand Master Luisa Ceravolo, celebrated the traditional Winter Solstice Ritual, a moment of deep Masonic reflection that attracted numerous Brothers and Sisters from all over Italy.

During the Rite, a significant symbolic moment featured the traditional distribution of small green fir branches to all present, symbolizing peace and prosperity. The color green, the color of emerald and the Grail, is esoterically associated with hope, a central element in the reflection.

The ritual event provided a unique opportunity for philosophical exchange and sharing, centered around the central theme of hope, understood not as a mere feeling of optimism but as a genuine drive for personal and collective improvement.

In her speech, Grand Master Ceravolo developed an elaborate reflection, quoting the contributions of important thinkers. Particularly significant was the reference to theologian and philosopher Vito Mancuso, who said that hope is an “inner strength that prevents you from being discouraged by reality, especially when reality is so problematic it appears negative.”

Building on the reflections of philosophers such as Kant, Ernst Bloch, and Adorno, Luisa Ceravolo emphasized how hope should be an invitation to action, to the pursuit of a qualitative improvement in one’s way of being, thinking, and living. This concept goes beyond the passive dimension of waiting and becomes an active principle of personal and social transformation.

The Solstice ritual, a metaphor for the passage from darkness to light, offered the attendees a moment of profound initiatic sharing, inviting each participant to live each moment of life with awareness, embracing both the light and shadow that life alternates.
